Providing the latest in integrated embedded solutions and products, Z3 Technology, LLC today announced the immediate availability of the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS single-channel broadcast encoder and the Z3-DM8169-MCVI-RPS multi-channel encoder. Both systems were developed as video infrastructure solutions that work in applications such as broadcast video encoding and decoding, real-time transcoding at 1080p60, security and surveillance, video conferencing and industrial video processing. For more information, please visit www.z3technology.com or drop by Z3’s booth (SU10418) at the NAB Show Floor in South Upper Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS system features both hardware and software components. Based on the DaVinci TMS320DM8169 video processor from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI), the hardware provided includes one Z3-DM8169-MOD-2x system-on-module card and a video infrastructure application board, the Z3-DM8168-APP-3x, which provides advanced video input/output capabilities.
“The new Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS provides a true out-of-the-box broadcast quality H.264 encoder system that a customer can immediately use for transmission, security and industrial applications,” said Aaron Caldwell, CEO, Z3 Technology. “The versatility and flexibility of the design enables OEMs and ODMs to quickly assimilate TI’s latest DaVinci DM8169 video processor with Z3 integrated technology, thereby significantly reducing development expenses and product time to market.”
Measuring 88mm x 108mm, the Z3-DM8169-MOD-2x is a compact OEM module, supporting H.264 codec at up to two channels of 1080p60fps encode and stream, decode from stream or store in applications such as real-time transcoding, broadcast video encoding and decoding, medical and industrial video, video conference terminals and high-definition embedded video sub-systems. The Z3-DM8169-MOD-2x features a unique expansion interface comprised of five high-density connectors, providing access to the majority of interface signals available from TI’s peripheral-rich DaVinci DM8169 video processor. The Z3-DM8169-MOD-2x natively supports GigE, SATA2, HDMI output, RS-232, dual USB 2.0, YPbPr output and composite video with stereo analog audio output.
Z3’s video infrastructure application board, Z3-DM8168-APP-3x, is included with the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS system. This application board leverages the I/O expansion capability of the Z3-DM8169-MOD-2x to implement additional functions not present in the base module. The Z3-DM8168-APP-3x application board has an HDMI input, 3G SDI input/output, ASI input/output, YPbPr input and analog stereo audio inputs.
The bundled software includes all necessary components for users to develop their own advanced multimedia, graphics and DSP applications. The provided software contains pre-loaded encoder and decoder Z3 applications, Linux, EZSDK and OpenMAX-IL framework. Featured software components include TI’s broadcast quality TruView H.264 codec and MPEG-2 encode/decode. A Linux-based media software development kit (SDK) license, additional design services and support are available from Z3 Technology. In addition to the Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS, Z3 Technology is offering a multi-channel option with the Z3-DM8169-MCVI-RPS. Leveraging the same hardware, the Z3-DM8169-MCVI-RPS is equipped with multi-channel software framework and application. The RDK based multi-channel framework and Z3’s application allow the user to encode multiple sources at the same time. The Z3-DM8169-MCVI-RPS supports simultaneous H.264+AAC encoding from 3GSDI + HDMI, 3GSDI + Component or HDMI + Components inputs. The standard Linux-based media SDK license, additional design services and support are available from Z3 Technology.
“Z3 Technology and TI have a history of providing developers with easy-to-use systems and modules. While the module-based approach provides a turn-key solution to help customers get to market faster, it leaves enough room for customers to add their own differentiation,” said Atul Verma, business manager, video infrastructure and professional audio, TI. “Z3 Technology’s customers will get to take advantage of the high-quality encoding capabilities of TI’s DaVinci DM8169 video processor as well as the ease of use of Z3 Technology’s development system.”
The Z3-DM8169-VI-RPS and Z3-DM8169-MCVI-RPS systems are readily available from Z3 Technology and are based on TI’s DaVinci DM8169 video processor platform. More information can be found at: www.z3technology.com.
